The property is located 11km from the centre of Villafranca de los Barros along a straight road.

Villafranca is a town of around 13,000 with a good selection of supermarkets and shops, restaurants and bars, banks, schools and churches and all the other services you are likely to require on a day to day basis. There is a daily covered market for fresh produce and a weekly street market on a Saturday for the usual cheap clothes etc. The skyline as you approach Villafranca from the property is dominated by the beautiful buildings of Colegio San José, a Jesuit school with fantastic facilities, attended by students from all around Spain.

Villafranca sits within the centre of the wine producing area of Extremadura known as Tierra de los Barros. Local bodegas produce inexpensive, high quality wines. Almendralejo has numerous bodegas famous for producing some of the best cava in Spain. Other local produce include olives and olive oil, Serrano ham and other pork products and pimenton (paprika).

The nearby Sierra de Hornachos is home to a wide range of birds including raptors such as eagles, buzzards and vultures, and is therefore a favoured destination for bird-watchers. The area, which is designated as a Parque Natural also provides a wonderful place for walking and cycling.

Nearby are the larger towns of Zafra (known as 'Little Sevilla' because of it wonderful architecture and atmosphere) and Almendralejo. These offer a much wider range of shops and services. Merida, which boasts the most well-preserved Roman ruins outside of Rome, is only 45km away.

Villafranca is situated off the A66 motorway which links directly with Sevilla approx 150km to the south and Merida approx 45km to the north. The opening of the motorway 6 years ago brings the area to within 1 1/2 hours of Sevilla International Airport. It also means an easy journey from the international ferry ports of Santander and Bilbao using toll free motorways all the way.
