We have given this property a rating of 3 on our Sustainability Rating. This is based on the following answers to our questions. Please note that the answers are given by the owners and are not validated by us.

There are two wells on the property and a lot of spring water. We plan to use these sources for water both in the chateau and the eco-cabins. Currently, the chateau is plumbed into the well-water but not using it as the wells need to be cleaned and tested before we move over to them.
We will have a full permaculture plan for the whole site so that we can produce most of the food, water and energy we need. Currently we have chickens and some fruit and nut trees. There are 12.5 hectares (30 acres of land).
Food production - %?
Plans are to grow 70% of our food. The project has not started yet but in the past years we have grown a small percentage of food here.
Currenly the chateau is rented as a holiday let and turns over approximately €50k per year with overheads of €18-€20k. The eco-housing development can either be set up as a self-build whereby people build their own eco cabins according to our designs (plans are fully developed and outlinepermissions in place from the planning authorities) OR we can build the houses and sell them. The return on investment is sufficient to pay back the capital that has been invested.
Owners opinion on sustainable features:
The whole property has designs and permission to be a fully sustainable site within 5 years - electricity, water, food and heating.
